Happy Holidays 2009 (IV)

How we'll remember this Christmas Eve and Day:
bow & mallow/marshmallow shooter fights, tea parties, tooth fairy and santa coming back-to-back, snowball fights and 2 feet of snow, and our new Walton family toboggan waxed with non-nutritive cereal varnish crunch enhancer applied by Kevin Rooney (see facebook).

Any Room for Sleeping?

My urge to blog this evening is prompted by Teagan's blood-curdling screaming...still going on as I type. It's 8pm and all the kids were put to bed 15 minutes ago, and Teagan is still screaming. Wow, this girl has a set of lungs!

Now, she's not upset about the act of going to bed. All the kids are very accepting of the bedtime routine and even welcome the idea of going to bed. Teagan loves getting into bed at night with her 2 favorite blankets. However, we have allowed her to develop a bad habit over the past couple weeks. It all started just before Halloween.

She had grown fond of a particular stuffed animal dog...and wanted to take it to bed. Well, we thought that was fine.

A few days pass and she became obsessed with a certain baby-doll. She insisted on bringing it to bed with her.

A couple more days pass....and a couple more animals join in the crib party.

Now we created a problem! She insists on bringing everything to bed.
Tonight the head-count was at: 3 stuffed animals, 2 babies, and 2 blankets. And her screaming fit tonight was because I put my foot down and would not let her sleep with her sippy-cup AND hair-tie she loves so much.

I am laughing so hard! Teagan is so entertaining these days. She sure has a mind of her own and loves to express her feelings. Her brothers bow-down to her and she sure tries to rule the roost.

She also has no fear. Yesterday I found she had moved a diningroom chair across the room to reach for her balloon. Smart and Fearless.
And she loves accessories! Hats are her favorite. This one was a hand-me-down for Cal, but she won't let him wear it.

Trick or Treat 09

Happy Halloween 2009! We went all-out this year for our 5th annual Trick or Treat Spooktacular party! The costumes were great, treats and drinks were spooky and everyone had a blast.

Ethan and Nick were pirates, I was a gypsy, Cal was our guard dog and Teagan was a spooky black cat. (In the picture Nick put some extra clothes on just before going out to trick-or-treat)

There were other very impressive costumes: 80's aerobic instructors, SNL's Gilly and the Professor, football players and enough animals to fill a zoo.
Check out the pics...

Monthly Blog

If you haven't noticed, I've recently lost interest in blogging. Is anyone out there anyway? I'm sorry if I've disappointed you Waltons5 fans with no blogs for a month.

Here is my plan. I'm going to post a blog ONCE A MONTH. Now, you know my frequency and no longer need to check in regularly wondering when I'm going to get my act together. Check back at the beginning of every month.
Here are a few pictures from September...

Rooney (Cuddy) Reunion

Ethan and I had a great weekend in Des Moines, IA for the Rooney-Cuddy reunion. I have to be honest...not the greatest turn-out for my generation. Where were you guys?! In fact, I only saw 1 of my immediate Rooney cousins (out of 17, plus all your families= 40+). The older generation was well represented though, and we had a fun time. Mostly, I had a great time with Ethan because it was his first hotel experience. He had a blast! Staying up late and swimming until 11pm, fun dinners and all you can eat desserts, running around the hotel with cousins and site-seeing in Des Moines.

(Ethan thought Jack was the coolest!)

We were super impressed with the Des Moines DT Farmers Market! It was like a Fair!

Then we went to the Zoo- also impressive! My favorite part of the zoo was the pond full of Koi fish. It brought back memmories of feeding the fish off the dock at Lake Mead. Long ago we would take visiting family to Lake Mead, and they used to sell bags of popcorn to feed the ugly bull-catfish. The Koi were much more colorful, although still a little gross in large masses.

For the next reunion, in 2 years, our generation should be in charge of the planning. It's time to pass the torch. Ideas?

While Ethan and I were in Iowa, Nick enjoyed Labor Day weekend in Boulder with Doug, Tom, Ian and other Boulder Buddies. Here he is at the CU vs. CSU football game!

Go Buffs!
